# How can I change or update the nameservers for my domain?

This article shows you how to set the active nameservers for your domain name. Your domain name must be registered with Elitehost; otherwise, the changes made on our systems will not have any effect.

1. Log in to the [Elitehost Client Area](https://my.elitehost.co.za/clientarea.php).
2. Click on **My Domains**.
3. Click the **Manage Domain** button or on the domain name you wish to manage.
4. Click on the **Nameservers** tab
5. Remember to click **Change Nameservers** when finished. Updates can take up to 24 hours to fully propagate globally.​
