How can I point my website/domain to Lovable?

If you're hosting your domain with Elitehost but want to point your website to Lovable, you'll need to update your DNS settings in cPanel. Additionally, if you want to keep your email services running on Elitehost, you’ll need to modify the mail records to ensure they still point to our server.

Before you start, make sure your domain is added to your Lovable project. For detailed instructions, see Lovable's guide on connecting a domain.

Here’s how you can configure your DNS settings to point your domain to Lovable while keeping your email services on Elitehost.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel and navigate to Zone Editor

Log in to cPanel.
Navigate to the "Domains" section and click on "Zone Editor."
Find your domain in the list and click on "Manage."

Step 2: Update Mail Records to Keep Email Services on Elitehost

Update the Mail A Record (to keep email pointed to Elitehost):

Locate the mail A Record and ensure it points to the IP address of your Elitehost server (e.g., 164.160.91.XX).
If it’s currently set as a CNAME Record, you’ll need to click the drop-down on CNAME and change it to an A Record.

Modify the MX Record:

Find the MX Record for your domain in the DNS list.
Edit the MX Record to point to mail.exampledomain.co.za to ensure email is routed through Elitehost servers.

Step 3: Point your Domain to Lovable

Update the A Record (to point your website to Wix):

Locate the A Record for the domain that is currently pointing to another IP.
Click Edit next to it.
Update the Record field with 185.158.133.1 and click Save Record.

Add the Lovable verification TXT Record

Lovable requires domain verification before they publish your application on the domain.

Click Add Record.
Select TXT Record.
Enter _lovable_verify in the Name field, and lovable_verify=unique-string-from-lovable in the record field. (Replace unique-string-from-lovable with the actual string provided by Lovable.)
Click Save Record.

Example DNS Records:

Final Steps

Once you have updated the necessary DNS records, the changes will propagate within 24-48 hours. After propagation, your website will point to Lovable, and your email will continue functioning via Elitehost.
