How do I create a cPanel account in WHM?
Creating a cPanel account in WHM allows you to assign resources and hosting features to a website or customer. Follow these steps to create a new cPanel account in WHM:
To begin, log in to WHM using your WHM credentials. You can access WHM via https://exampledomain.co.za/whm or by clicking the WHM Login button in the Elitehost Client Area. For detailed instructions, refer to How do I log into WHM?
In the WHM dashboard, find Account Functions on the left sidebar.
Click Create a New Account.
Now you need to enter details for the new cPanel account:
Domain Information:
Domain: Enter the domain name (e.g., exampledomain.co.za).
Username: WHM will auto-generate a username based on the domain, or you can enter your own.
Password: Set a strong password or use the password generator.
Email: Enter the account holder’s email address for notifications.
Select a Package:
Choose a pre-defined hosting package from the Package dropdown.
If you haven’t created a package yet, create a package first.
Optional Settings (Defaults can be left unchanged):
cPanel Theme: This can be left as default unless a specific theme is required.
Locale: The default language is set, but you can change it if necessary.
DNS Settings: Leave as default unless you're managing the DNS settings manually.
Mail Routing: The default settings are usually sufficient, but modify if needed.
Once all information is entered, scroll down and click Create.
WHM will create the new cPanel account, and you’ll see a confirmation screen once it’s done.
Point the Domain to Our Name Servers or Register the Domain:
- If the domain is already registered, ensure it is pointed to our name servers. How can I change or update the nameservers for my domain?
- If the domain is not registered, register the domain.
Provide cPanel Login Details:
- You can provide the user with their cPanel login details (via https://exampledomain.co.za/cpanel).
Test the Website:
- After the domain is pointed or registered, test the website to ensure it's resolving correctly.
