How do I enable Two-Factor Authentication for the Client Area?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second form of authentication in addition to your password. This helps protect your account from unauthorised access, even if your password is compromised.
We offer both Time-Based Tokens and Email OTP Authentication as 2FA methods. We recommend using time-based tokens with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo.
Steps to Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Follow these steps to enable two-factor authentication for your Elitehost account:
- Go to the Elitehost Client Area.
- Log in with your client account credentials. (Refer to: How do I log in to my Elitehost account?)
- Click on Hello, [Your Name] in the top-right corner.
- Select Security Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Under Two-Factor Authentication, click Click here to Enable.
- Choose your preferred 2FA method:
Time Based Tokens (Get codes from an app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo).
- Select Time Based Tokens and click Get Started.
- Scan the QR code using your authentication app (or manually enter the setup key).
- Enter the 6-digit code generated by your app and click Submit.
- Save the backup code shown on screen. (This code can be used if you lose access to your authentication app.)
Email OTP Authentication (Receive a one-time password via email to complete login).
- Select Email OTP Authentication and click Get Started.
- A confirmation email will be sent with the subject "Two-Factor Authentication Code". Enter the OTP provided in the email.
- Save the backup code shown on screen. (This code can be used if you cannot receive the OTP email.)
- A confirmation message will appear once 2FA is successfully enabled.
Logging in with 2FA
After enabling 2FA, each time you log in, you will need to enter your email address and password as usual, followed by the authentication code from your selected 2FA method (either the six-digit app code or the OTP sent via email).
Disabling 2FA
If you need to disable two-factor authentication:
- Log in to the Elitehost Client Area
- Click on Hello, [Your Name] on the right of the top navigation bar and click Security Settings.
- Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication.
- Confirm your decision and enter the authentication code to proceed.
