How do I enable Two-Factor Authentication for the Client Area?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second form of authentication in addition to your password. This helps protect your account from unauthorised access, even if your password is compromised. Follow the steps below to enable 2FA for our Client Area.

Steps to Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Follow these steps to enable two-factor authentication for your Elitehost account:

Log in to the Client Area

Visit Elitehost Client Area and log in with your credentials. (Refer to our article: How do I log in to my Elitehost account?)

Navigate to Security Settings

Click on Hello, [Your Name] on the right of the top navigation bar.
Select Security Settings from the dropdown menu.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Click on Click here to Enable under the Two-Factor Authentication section.

Configure Time Based Tokens

Select Time Based Tokens and click Get Started.

Scan the QR Code

Use an authentication app (e.g., Google Authenticator or Authy) on your mobile device to scan the QR code. Alternatively, you can enter the provided key manually into the app.

Enter the authenticator app code

Enter the 6-digit code that the authenticator app generates and click Submit.

Save Your Backup Code

A backup code will be displayed. Store this code in a safe place.
This code can be used to access your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Confirmation

You will see a confirmation message indicating that two-factor authentication is now enabled.

Logging in with 2FA

After enabling 2FA, each time you log in, you will need to enter your email address and password as usual, followed by the six-digit authentication code from your authentication app.

Disabling 2FA

If you need to disable two-factor authentication:

Log in to the Elitehost Client Area
Click on Hello, [Your Name] on the right of the top navigation bar and click Security Settings.
Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication.
Confirm your decision and enter the authentication code to proceed.

If you’re unable to generate a 2FA code (perhaps due to a phone change or lack of access to the 2FA app) and don’t have your backup code, please contact support for assistance.

If you need assistance with any of these steps, feel free to reach out to our support team or email helpdesk@elitehost.co.za.
