How do I lock or unlock my domain?

Domain locking is a security feature that prevents your domain from being transferred to another registrar without your consent. This is an important measure to protect your domain from unauthorised transfers.

Locking your domain

Log in to the Elitehost Client Area.
Navigate to Domains from the drop-down menu and select My Domains.
Click the Manage button next to the domain name you wish to lock.
On the left side of the screen, click Registrar Lock.
Click the Enable Registrar Lock button.

As of April 2025, co.za, org.za, net.za and web.za domains support domain locking. This enhancement ensures additional security for .za domain owners.

Unlocking your domain

Log in to the Elitehost Client Area.
Navigate to Domains from the drop-down menu and select My Domains.
Click the Manage button next to the domain name you wish to unlock.
On the left side of the screen, click Registrar Lock.
Click the Disable Registrar Lock button.

Locking your domain is highly recommended when you are not actively transferring it. This ensures the domain remains secure and protected from unauthorised changes.

Not all domain extensions support locking. Some country-specific domains (ccTLDs) and certain TLDs may not have this feature available. If you do not see the option to enable or disable the registrar lock, it may not be supported for your domain extension.
