Understanding the "Domain Transferred Away" Notification

When you receive a notification stating that your domain has been transferred away, it means the domain has been successfully transferred to another provider and is no longer managed by us. This is typically initiated and completed through the standard domain transfer process.

What happens if we did not agree to the transfer?

Domain transfers require the domain contact or registrant to approve the process. Here’s how it works:

A registrar initiates a domain transfer request on behalf of the person wishing to transfer the domain.
The domain registrant contact receives an email requesting approval for the transfer.
This email contains an accept link that must be clicked to authorise the transfer.
If no action is taken (neither accepting nor declining the transfer), the transfer request will fail automatically after 5 days.

We, as the domain registrar, do not participate in approving or rejecting domain transfers.

What to do if you believe the transfer was unauthorised?

If you suspect that your domain was transferred unlawfully or without your consent, you can escalate the matter by filing a complaint with the ZARC registry (South Africa’s domain registry authority). To do so, please review and follow the steps outlined in their complaint policy:

ZARC Complaints Policy

This policy provides instructions on how to lodge a complaint and the evidence required to resolve disputes.
