Getting started with your Managed cPanel VPS

After completing your purchase and setup, you’ll receive a welcome email with essential information for accessing your VPS. WHM serves as your primary management interface, allowing you to create cPanel accounts, set up hosting packages, configure security, and perform server-level tasks.

Essential Steps

Logging in to WHM

To get started, log in to WHM as the root user. You can access WHM via https://[your-vps-ip]:2087

Enter the credentials to log in:

Username: root
Password: your root password (provided in your welcome email)

Create a Hosting Package

Before creating any cPanel accounts, you’ll need to define hosting packages. Hosting packages allow you to set limits on resources like disk space, bandwidth, and email accounts for your cPanel accounts. Refer to this article: How can I create a package in WHM?

Create a cPanel Account

Once your hosting packages are set up, you can create cPanel accounts for your customers or websites. Each cPanel account will have its own login and access to the hosting features you’ve defined in the package. Refer to this article: How do I create a cPanel account in WHM?

Register/Update the Domain

After creating a cPanel account, ensure that the domain is registered and pointed to your VPS name servers. If your domain is not yet registered, follow this guide: How do I register a domain?

Name Servers

If you’ve chosen a hostname for your server and the domain is registered with us, we will set up your name servers as ns1.exampledomain.co.za and ns2.exampledomain.co.za. We may also arrange custom configurations or DNS edits for your domain. If you’re unsure which name servers to use, please open a support ticket, and we’ll be happy to assist.

Advanced Access and Security

For advanced users who wish to set up SSH access and manage root SSH keys, please refer to our guide here: How to access your Managed VPS via SSH Keys

Following these setup steps and linked guides will prepare your Managed cPanel VPS for hosting. Use WHM to configure packages, manage cPanel accounts, and perform server tasks as needed. For additional help, explore our VPS support articles or reach out to our support team.
