How do I set up my email account on my Android device?

Setting up an email account on your Android device a simple process that allows you to access your emails on the go. To set up your email account on your Android device, follow these steps:


  1. Open Settings
  • Press the Settings icon on your Android device.
  • Go to Accounts and backup.
  • Tap Manage accounts.


  1. Create a New Email Account
  • Tap Add account.


  1. Select Server Type
  • Choose Personal (IMAP).


  1. Enter Your Email Address
  • Type in your full email address (e.g., user@exampledomain.co.za) and tap Next.


  1. Enter Your Password
  • Type in your email password and tap Next.


  1. Configure Incoming Server Settings
  • Username: Your full email address
  • Password: Your email account password
  • Server: mail.exampledomain.co.za
  • Port: 993
  • Security Type: SSL/TLS


  1. Configure Outgoing Server Settings
  • Require sign-in: Enabled
  • Username: Your full email address
  • Password: Your email account password
  • Server: mail.exampledomain.co.za
  • Port: 465 or 587
  • Security Type: SSL/TLS


  1. Set Sync Preferences
  • Choose how often you’d like to sync your email, and enable notifications if desired. Tap Next.


  1. Finalise Setup
  • Account name (optional): enter a name for the account to help you identify it on your device.
  • Your name: enter the name you would like recipients to see when they receive your emails. Tap Next/Done to complete the setup.


Your email account is now set up and ready to use. You can access it via the Email app on your Android device.


  • Make sure the email address is already created in your hosting account via cPanel before attempting to set it up on your Android device.
  • If you experience any issues with sending or receiving emails, verify that the server details (mail server and credentials) are correct.
