What is Imunify360 & How Does It Work?

Imunify360 is security software used on all shared hosting servers at Elitehost. Developed by CloudLinux, it employs a herd immunity approach and a six-layer strategy to protect against various attacks, including DDoS, malware, and brute-force attempts, which are common for WordPress sites.

WordPress is a frequent target for hackers, and our servers encounter thousands of attacks daily. Imunify360 helps shield users from these threats through the following layers:

Real-time malware scanning
Advanced firewall with greylisting
Intrusion detection
Server kernel patching
Website reputation management
Web applications sandboxing

How Imunify360 Works

Imunify360 uses ModSecurity rules as its intrusion detection system. These rules, updated daily, protect websites from various attacks. If there are too many failed login attempts to services like WordPress or cPanel, your IP address may be temporarily blocked.

When blocked, you might see a "Protected by Imunify360" Captcha screen. Completing this Captcha will unblock your IP temporarily. This helps prevent bots from accessing your account while allowing legitimate users to regain access easily.

Reasons for Being Blocked by Imunify360

The most common reason for being blocked is failed login attempts to cPanel, email accounts, or FTP. If you're using WordPress and have multiple failed logins, this can also trigger a block. You might also be blocked for triggering ModSecurity rules due to poor coding practices in themes or plugins.

If you encounter a block, contact our Elitehost Support Team via a support ticket for assistance. You can also log into cPanel to whitelist your IP if the block resulted from invalid login attempts.
