How do I set up my email account in Mac Mail?

Here’s how you can configure your email account on Mac Mail:


  1. Open Mail.
  • Launch the Mail application on your Mac.


  1. Add a New Account.
  • In the top bar, go to Mail and select Add Account.


  1. Select 'Add Other Mail Account'.
  • A window will pop up; select Add Other Mail Account and click Continue.


  1. Enter Your Account Information:
  • You will be prompted to enter the following details:
    • Full Name: Your full name.
    • Email Address: Your email address (e.g., yourname@exampledomain.co.za).
    • Password: The password for your email account.


  1. Sign In.
  • After entering your details, click Sign In to proceed to the next page.


  1. Incoming & Outgoing Mail Server Info:
  • Enter the following details:
    • Email Address: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@exampledomain.co.za).
    • Username: Your full email address.
    • Password: Your email account’s password.
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Incoming Mail Server: mail.exampledomain.co.za
    • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.exampledomain.co.za


  1. Sign In Again.
  • Click Sign In to verify the account information.


  1. Select the Apps.
  • Choose the apps you want to use with this account (e.g., Mail, Notes).


  1. Click 'Done'.
  • Your email account setup is complete!
