How do I set up my email account on my Android device?
Setting up an email account on your Android device a simple process that allows you to access your emails on the go. To set up your email account on your Android device, follow these steps:
Open Settings
Press the Settings icon on your Android device.
Go to Accounts and backup.
Tap Manage accounts.
Create a New Email Account
Tap Add account.
Select Server Type
Choose Personal (IMAP).
Enter Your Email Address
Type in your full email address (e.g., user@exampledomain.co.za) and tap Next.
Enter Your Password
Type in your email password and tap Next.
Configure Incoming Server Settings
Username: Your full email address
Password: Your email account password
Server: mail.exampledomain.co.za
Port: 993
Security Type: SSL/TLS
Configure Outgoing Server Settings
Require sign-in: Enabled
Username: Your full email address
Password: Your email account password
Server: mail.exampledomain.co.za
Port: 465 or 587
Security Type: SSL/TLS
Set Sync Preferences
Choose how often you’d like to sync your email, and enable notifications if desired. Tap Next.
Finalise Setup
Account name (optional): enter a name for the account to help you identify it on your device.
Your name: enter the name you would like recipients to see when they receive your emails. Tap Next/Done to complete the setup.
Your email account is now set up and ready to use. You can access it via the Email app on your Android device.
Make sure the email address is already created in your hosting account via cPanel before attempting to set it up on your Android device.
If you experience any issues with sending or receiving emails, verify that the server details (mail server and credentials) are correct.
You can test your mailbox credentials by logging into webmail, refer to the article: How do I access webmail?
