I am receiving too much spam, how can I reduce it?

If you're receiving an excessive amount of spam emails, there are several steps you can take to reduce it. Depending on your hosting package, you may have access to different spam filtering tools, such as SpamAssassin or SpamExperts. Here’s how to manage and reduce spam in your inbox:

1. Ensure SpamAssassin is Enabled

If you’re on one of our Shared (Unlimited, Unlimited Plus, or Unlimited Pro) or Reseller hosting packages, we provide SpamAssassin, an open-source spam filtering tool, to help block unwanted emails. Follow these steps to ensure SpamAssassin is enabled:

Log in to cPanel (See our article: How do I log into cPanel?).
Navigate to the Email section and click on Spam Filters.
Ensure that SpamAssassin is turned on by toggling the switch.
Adjust the spam score sensitivity if needed. A lower score catches more spam but may increase false positives.

2. Consider Upgrading to a Business Package

If you're using one of our Business hosting packages, we include SpamExperts, a more advanced and comprehensive email filtering solution. SpamExperts offers additional protection against spam and malicious emails. Upgrading to a business package can significantly reduce the amount of spam you receive.

To explore upgrading to a Business package, please visit our hosting page or contact our billing department or email us at billing@elitehost.co.za for more information.
