What is the difference between POP3 and IMAP?

POP3 and IMAP are two of the most popular email protocols, and both are supported by your hosting account. Here’s a quick overview of the key differences:

IMAP:

Synchronizes emails across all devices, meaning your emails stay on the server and are accessible from multiple devices.
Recommended if you plan to check your emails on multiple devices (e.g., desktop, mobile, tablet).

POP3:

Downloads emails from the server to your device and typically removes them from the server.

Troubleshooting Missing Emails:

Emails may go missing when devices are set up using different protocols. If one device is configured with POP3 and another with IMAP, POP3 may remove emails from the server after downloading them, which can cause confusion on devices using IMAP.

To avoid this issue, we recommend configuring all devices to use IMAP. This ensures that emails stay on the server and remain accessible across all devices.
